Thoughts and feelings

I really liked the variety of the works here, from the thought provoking series of signs dotted around the park to the crazy and senseless pieces, it was a wide range however they all worked really well together. It reminded me a lot of the Yorkshire sculpture park, which I've been to a few times, and I suppose this makes sense as the curator Clare Lilley is the Yorkshire sculpture park director, so there is definitely elements and influences of it in here. Because of the many diffrent artists there wasn't one overwhelming theme or message, and I feel whilst in some settings this would be a negative thing, for example if it was in a 'traditional gallery,' in this context and surrounding it worked really well. As every piece was in a diffrent position and had a diffrent background, wether it was in the open or under a tree, this gave each piece a diffrent feeling which I find is necessary as each piece does have its own unique theme and message anyway. From this exhibition I have learnt that the types of work I like most to both look at and to create are the ones that use natural materials, rocks, wood, and concrete, I like the very rustic look they have and how they are very simplistic and act as a return to out prehistoric human ways, but also can be created in ways that are very modern and new age. Look at Alicja Kwade's Tunnel-Tell It uses the natural materials but the giant hole through the rock and th stainless steel tunnel could only have been created through modern technologies and methods.
